What defines me

At an age of 20, I had no idea what kind of life I will pursue in the near future. I just had one thing in mind; whatever I do in the coming 4-5 years will determine how i will spend the rest of my life. But why did these 4 years hold so much importance? Just because I will get a degree, a job and a salary package? How can things holding materialistic value determine my worth? I was bewildered.

I wanted to do something significant, achieve something but at the same time did not want it to define me as a person. I realized there are two variations in people. Firstly there are the people who are rich in money, then there are the people who are rich in knowledge, rich in love, rich in self respect.

We do not have to make a fixed choice here; we can be both, we can be none and we can be one. All that matters is that which side of richness we choose as the dominant side. It is up to us which side of richness we give the freedom to define us; a variable factor called money or a constant value of cognition. It is disheartening to gawk at the temperament of people. They are influenced by a fickle lover vociferated as money instead of a dyed-in-the-wool lover christened as virtues. “Some people are so poor all they have is Money.”
